There's a beat, maybe three minutes out of the ten, where Jem keeps going. Lays down grout, places two more tiles atop it. Three minutes and then she puts it all down and stands up. First she stokes the fire; encourages the flames to grow a little bigger. Next she strips; folds her shirt and her overalls on the kitchen counter. After that she ties her hair back - ponytail, high.
By the time she gets to the collar, she's shivering a little, hands shaking. It takes a few goes to loop the collar into the the notch at the back of her neck. When it's done, she attaches the leash through the loop at the front, and when that's done, her hands go still.
On minute eight, she wraps her arms around herself and purposefully refuses to look at her reflection in any of the mirrors. She takes a pillow from the bed and sets it on the floor; kneels down onto it and slips the leash into her mouth and bites down, leans forward and presses her cheek onto the sheets, shifts her arms around her back, clutching onto each forearm. She closes her eyes, counts to ten to calm her breathing.
